Tennis returns to King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel
Tennis has returned to the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, which now operates as the Marriott Courtyard King Kamehameha Beach Hotel.
The Courtyard Tennis Cetner is a private club with Donnia Bondallian as director of tennis and Matt Johnson as the teaching pro.
The courts are open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. There is a social round robin 9 a.m. Saturdays at and TennisCize classes on 8:30 a.m Wednesdays. Players of all levels are invited to participate.
To mark the opening of the tennis center, reduced membership rates are being offered until Monday.

Hawaii Cycling Club hosts Out-n-Back
On Sept. 21 the Hawaii Cycling Club is presenting the second annual 22.2-mile “Out-n-Back” training time trial. The event starts at 8 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery on the Queen Kaahumanu Hightway.
Cyclists ride north to Waikoloa Beach Road, will make a U-turn and return south to the 86 mile marker.
Registration will begin at 7 and run until 7:40 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery turnoff.
This is a free event and cyclists of all abilities are welcome.

Konawaena offers BIIF ticket packages
Konawaena High School is offering ticket packages for BIIF spectators.
The school is offering a three-game home football package for $12, or fans of multiple sports can purchase a $60 pass good for all Konawaena BIIF sports.
The gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday for the school’s first home football game of the season. JV kickoff is at 5 p.m., followed by varsity at 7 p.m.
Guluzzy named head tennis pro at Holua
Don Guluzzy was recently appointed head tennis professional at Holua Tennis Center in Keauhou.
Guluzzy is available for group and private lessons and clinics up to 4.5 level (all ages).

Kupuna softball league begins Sunday
The Kupuna fall slow pitch softball league will begin Sunday. Games will be played every Sunday morning through Nov. 17.
One nine-inning game is played, and the league is open to all men and women 50 and older.

Free archery classes begin Wednesday
The Department of Parks and Recreation in Kailua-Kona will offer free beginner/intermediate archery classes for children ages 9-14 in September.
The Wednesday classes, which start Wednesday, will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. at Hale Halawai.
Registration will continues through today.
Parks and Recreation will provide equipment for the class. Participants may use their own equipment, but the equipment must receive approval from recreation director Marshall Tohara.
The activity is free, but organizers are asking for donations of large balloon packages. Instructors will use balloons as targets.
Early registration is recommended, and the registration deadline is Friday.
